A first visit is about 90 minutes. Most of that is looking, measuring and talking. Very little of it is treatment. If something needs attention, you will hear about it, see it on screen, and get a written estimate before anything is scheduled.
Before you arrive
You will get a link to complete your forms on your phone, which saves about 15 minutes in the lobby. If you have recent X-rays from another office, send them over and we will skip retaking anything that is still current.
Bring your insurance card if you have one. We verify benefits before your appointment so the numbers we discuss are real.
The first 10 minutes
You will be greeted by name. Pick a show for the ceiling TV, take a blanket if you want one, and settle in. Your hygienist or assistant will ask what brought you in, what you want out of your dental care, and whether anything has bothered you in the past. That conversation shapes the rest of the visit.
Scan and X-rays
We take low-dose digital X-rays and a full 3D scan of your mouth with the iTero Lumina. No impression goop. The scan takes about two minutes and gives us a model of every tooth we can rotate on screen.
Overjet AI then reads your X-rays alongside Dr. Sison, highlighting early decay and bone levels. You see the same overlay we do.
The exam
Dr. Sison checks every tooth, your gums, your bite, your jaw joints and the soft tissue of your mouth, including an oral cancer screening. Your hygienist measures the pockets around each tooth and reads the numbers aloud. Healthy is one to three.
Everything is shown to you on the screen as it is found. Nothing is diagnosed behind your back.
The conversation
This is the part most offices skip. Dr. Sison walks through what she found, what needs attention now, what can wait and be watched, and what does not need anything. You will hear "let's watch that" more than you might expect.
If treatment is recommended, you get a written estimate showing what your insurance is expected to cover and what you would owe.
What you leave with
A clear picture of where your mouth is, a plan if you need one, a gelato from the freezer by the door, and your next appointment. That is the whole visit.
No surprises. Just a plan.
