What veneers on a crooked bite actually do
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain. To make crowded teeth look straight with veneers alone, some have to be built out thick and others cut back hard. The result can look even in a photo, but the bite underneath hasn't changed. Every time she closed her mouth, those teeth would meet at the wrong angles.

That's the sentence I said to her, and it's the sentence I'd say to anyone in the same chair. Cosmetic dentistry laid over a functional problem is a countdown, not a fix. The function always wins eventually.
What I recommended instead
Invisalign first. Once her teeth were aligned and her bite was even, we'd look again. Straight teeth need much thinner veneers, which means far less enamel removed. And often, once the teeth are where they belong, a little whitening and maybe a touch of bonding is all anyone wants. Sometimes no veneers at all.
Why this matters beyond one patient
Anyone can sell you the treatment you walked in asking for. The harder, better thing is to tell you what your teeth actually need, even when it means a slower path and less work for the office. Enamel you keep is enamel you never have to replace.
How it turned out
She started aligners. Her bite came together over about a year. When we sat down to talk about veneers again, she wanted two, not six, and they were thin enough that we barely touched her teeth. She has the smile from her photos. It just took the honest route to get there.
